VERY early this morning we set off for Newbury Show, with Gold II (Rigo) and White Walker (Squirrel). (Unfortunately Don Cruise (Jungle) can't jump under BSJA rules until he has passed a grading - which he is attending in a week).
Rigo jumped yet another fantastic double clear in the Newcomers and came a very close 2nd (less than half a second!) in a competitive class with lots of double clears. Hopefully he will move up to Foxhunters soon as he only has one more double clear to get at Newcomers level. It's hard to believe he's only 5!
Squirrel jumped well, but we never took him to win, particularly after Gatcombe only a few days before. He did the Newcomers and the Foxhunter just to get some show jumping practise before his next event and 1.10 Amateur Championship second rounds.
