We took Cosmo and Leo to Hambleden for the BE100. We had entered Tiny and Squirrel (White Walker) as well but they had both been balloted.
Cosmo was a bit excited about the fact this was his 5th event and the first one he's ever done that's not at Aston. He leaped and squeaked and unfortunately jumped out of his arena which was half hilarious and half really not funny! Glad to see he is feeling well! Anita had to be our writer as Cosmo was the first in and the writer hadn't turned up! So we knew from the beginning it was not a good score...he scored lots of 8's which is really encouraging but also a few 3's .. with 'Whoops'! So at least he's not scoring consistent 5's, there is good work there when he settles down.
He jumped a really beautiful classy double clear but with 43 dressage there was no point pelting it round the XC on pretty hard going.
Leo performed his best test ever and was absolutely slated scoring 37. I think where he finds the small arenas quite hard going being so big as such a young horse, I'd slowed his trot so it felt considerably smoother, but maybe didn't look like it was travelling forward enough. I think at this stage of his training it's difficult to have both.
He was a bit sticky show jumping, with an unlucky rail, and I realised after it was only his first ever attempt at show jumping on grass! Poor Leo :( So in hindsight he did a good job. He was brilliant taking in the atmosphere and the marquees and tradestands; it didn't phased him in the slightest which is nice as all of that was a big step up from what he's experienced before.
Leo was lovely XC with just two time faults and felt very comfortable at this level.
