He jumped really well with just one down leaving him in a competitive position after show jumping. Cross country, he was absolutely fantastic around a big track, but unfortunately a ditch to step up coming off a corner just caught him by surprise and he stopped to have a look. As he's always been brilliant at ditches I kicked him from where he was and then he did step back. After turning him away and cantering back round the corner he flew it confidently and I think he had just misunderstood the question.
He jumped confidently round until right near the end where he hesitated for too long at a step down into the water and was sadly given his third refusal. He then popped into the water and jumped the double of steps out so I let him think he'd finished and done a good job.
It was actually a real shame as an E really didn't reflect the way he was jumping the bigger fences and combinations so brilliantly so we have entered him in Burnham Beeches 5yo for next Saturday.
