Just to get the horses out we have done quite a lot of BD and BSJA, with Don Cruise (Jungle) winning the Novice and coming 2nd and 3rd in two elementary tests at West Wilts in February and White Walker coming 1st and 2nd in his two elementary tests.
Unfortunately Don Cruise didn't really get much competition after that as I was working full time, and then sadly we made the decision to geld him. However, he is now back competing and won his first BSJA show in the 1.00m Amateur Championship 1st round, qualifying him for the second rounds. He is also doing some affiliated dressage at the weekend.
White Walker has done well show jumping this Spring, with some Newcomer placings, a 3rd place in the Foxhunter at West Wilts, and our first attempt at a 1.30m with only 4 faults. He had some good early novice runs with a good dressage and steady double clear at Twesledown, and then scored 40.1 (26.7) in the CIC* dressage at Hambleden, almost 8 penalties ahead of the next competitor and with him jumping so well I was so excited for the next day, only to discover on collection of dressage sheets they had cancelled. Still, I can't complain; so many people's dreams and plans have been ruined by the weather this year, whether that's riders or event organisers. The cancellation of a CIC* is not quite the same as Badminton or the Olympics, but still very disappointing.
So, with the weather still going crazy and my unfortunate balloting bad luck continuing (now waitlisted for Nunney), it may be a while before I next have anything exciting to report...
